Why not work with us?
We were tasked to promote Capcom’s Street Fighter IV to the music, style and fashion communities. To achieve this we focused on the cult of Street Fighter II the classic Super Nintendo video game by looking at it’s impact on youth culture.
We created a multi-tiered campaign that included the production of an exclusive limited edition DJ ‘battle’ vinyl which was sold and promoted via the UK’s leading independent record stores and fashion outlets. We also create a viral video mash up by AV legends Hexstatic (above) and a remix competition giving away the original 8-bit games hosted by the UK’s leading online MP3 store for dance music Trackitdown.net. This not only achieved tens of thousands of hits and excellent PR coverage but also saw the samples used by several underground artists in their official releases.
As part of the the launch for Bionic Commando Rearmed Capcom asked us to create a bespoke marketing campaign to target fans outside of their core audience.
Looking at the heritage of the game as an 8-bit classic we approached three artists to remix the original theme, these artists were either fans of the game or known for using 8-bit sounds in their production. After a bit of research we chose Rusko, Surkin and Clipz. As part of the promotion each artist was asked to promote the tracks to their contacts, blog and feature via their social networks in order to spread the tracks virally online.
This was backed up with a blog campaign which saw each track feature on a high profile blog (in this instance Mad Decent, Big Stereo and Gorilla Vs Bear) which further spread the mixes and message.
Bionic Commando - Surkin Remix
Bionic Commando - Rusko Remix
Bionic Commando - Clipz Remix
Further to this the Rusko and Clipz mix were picked up by Radio 1 DJs Annie Mac and Grooverider respectively enjoying several Radio 1 plays around release and a licensing request for Annie Mac’s compilation.
On the strength of our reputation for programming cool, edgy and exciting events the Cantaloupe Group brought us on board to programme for their London venues; Big Chill House, Big Chill Bar, Camino Kings Cross and Camino Westferry.
Of the four venues the Big Chill House needed the most attention. Our brief was to bring a new lease of life to the venue through new and exciting music programming which we primarily achieved by launching the flagship brand Big Chill Presents to showcase the new musical direction alongside working with some of the capitals most exciting and forward-thinking promoters, live acts and DJs to ensure the venue had the biggest and best line ups and promoters to create widespread interest amongst London clubbers and related media.
This events have been backed up with a solid PR campaign across print and online media which saw rave reviews across key titles such as Time Out, Metro, Fact, Dazed Digital, Evening Standard and many more.
We’re very excited to be working with Glade Festival 2011 this year which is definitely one of our favourite UK festivals! Taking place from 10 - 12 June in a beautiful as yet unannounced venue, this year sees the festival scale back to its roots in term of capacity and vibe in what looks set to be one of best UK events this summer.
Cypher PR has be bought onboard specifically to handle digital marketing, radio and specialist dance media. Bring it on!
Working closely with Last.fm, we have created and been responsible for developing their Last.fm Presents brand which was created to give the website a real-world presence at the capitals leading music venues and festivals across the UK and Europe showcasing it’s support of new, exciting and edgy music.
With events regularly taking place in London and New York, line-ups are put together from the best bands and artists featuring in Last.fm’s acclaimed Hype Charts. Since launching Last.fm Presents has hosted stages at Lovebox, Offset Festival, Futuresonic and hosted bands such as Fleet Foxes, Faust, Metronomy, Lightspeed Champion to Fink, The Dandy Warhols, Late Of The Pier plus many more.
Further to this we have also been responsible for media partnerships giving Last.fm a highly visible presence in the festival, club and gig arenas.
Our brief was to help promote Manga and their releases to a much wider audience outside of the Anime community. Part of our work saw us develop Manga Team Go! a street team of die-hard Manga fans who spent the summer attended festivals and events promoting releases accompanied by an 8-foot tall Tetsujin 28 robot we had built especially to promote one of their releases.
Alongside this we created viral marketing tools to promote The Laughing Man series as well as Ghost In The Shell (image above) as well as allowing visual artists the first official opportunity to mash up Manga footage.
We have worked alongside London’s biggest and best outdoor dance festival the South West Four Weekender for six years as their PR company of choice. We came on board in the second year of the event and have helped develop the brand from its initial stages to becoming one of the world’s leading and most established annual dance music festivals.
We have worked alongside this sell out event year in, year out managing the PR across print and online media to help establish it as one of the UK’s leading independent festivals and a firm fixture on the international festival calendar.
2010 was an exciting year for Cypher as it saw us focus solely on the digital marketing for the festival to develop a unique and cutting edge campaign.
Yamaha’s ground-break Tenori-On is a musical instrument developed by acclaimed Japanese media artist Toshio Iwai and Yu Nishibori of Yamaha’s Music and Human Interface Group.
Initially we were brought on board to help set up beta testing for the instrument with a selection of London’s cutting edge producers. We were then asked to organise the worldwide launch in London which took place at Phonica Records featuring performances from Kieran Hebden (Fourtet) Robert Lippok (To Rococo Rot) Capracara, Secondo and Toshio Iwai, this was followed up by a UK-wide showcase held at key leading independent record stores.
